In the quaint village of Homestead, one of the seven historic 
villages situated within the majestic timbers and lush farmland,
 Zuber's Homestead Hotel has been lovingly restored. 
The original character of our 1850's hotel has been preserved 
and guests will enjoy our rooms and suites, each boasting a 
uniquely designed prairie theme influenced by local landmarks,
 wildlife,  and natural beauty of Iowa. 

      The hotel building was best known as Bill Zuber's Dugout which 
operated as a restaurant from 1949 to 2006. In the 1940's Bill Zuber 
played professional baseball and following a 15-year MajorLeague career, 
he and his wife Connie purchased the building and welcomed thousands 
of dining guests for famous Amana family style meals. With help from 
friends and family, David and Yana Cutler the new owners,
have transformed the historical restaurant into a modern hotel with each 
guest enjoying all the benefits of modern technology, while maintaining
 the character and charisma that has made the establishment a landmark 
in the Amana Colonies. Here you will find not only unique guest rooms 
and suites designed with much love and comfort, but also warmth and serenity.
