Recipe: Fleisch Küchlein / Beef Cakes in Gravy

This hot dish will be a good one to help you warm up during these cold winter’s nights!

Fleisch Küchlein / Beef Cakes in Gravy

1 pound ground beef
1 small onion, minced
1 egg
1 cup fresh bread crumbs
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1 tablespoon flour
¾ to 1 cup water

Combine ground beef, minced onion, egg, bread crumbs and dash salt and pepper. Form into patties.

Heat butter or margarine in a skillet and brown patties until well done. Remove patties from skillet. Drain grease and deglaze skillet. On low heat, add flour and water to beef drippings in skillet and stir to form a gravy. Heat until bubbly. Return patties to skillet and simmer 5-10 minutes, turning once.

Makes 4 to 6 patties.
