Another recipe from my collection which I received from my husband’s mom, Corinne Brown James. She always had a huge strawberry patch, and so fixed many different dishes with strawberries as a key ingredient. As with many women, and especially farm wives, Corinne would listen to the radio talk shows while she worked around the house, and she would copy down recipes that were shared over the radio programs. It’s possible that this is one of those recipes.

Blue Ox Strawberry Pie

Crust
1 c flour
2 T Granulated sugar or 3 ½ T powd. sugar
1 stick margarine
Cut margarine into dry ingredients. Put in 9” pie tin. Bake 350° for 20 minutes.

½ c sugar
1 T corn starch
¼ t salt
Combine and add 2 c. water. Cook stirring constantly until thick and clear.
Add 3 oz. strawberry jello. Set aside until cool and partially set.
Put fresh unsweetened strawberries in pie shell and pour thickened filling over berries.
Chill at least 4 hours.
Cool whip on top.
