Etta Mae Peterson

Combine 4 cups diced apples with 2 cups sugar. Add 1 cup chopped walnuts. Mix and add:

½ c. Crisco oil
2 eggs, beaten
2 tsp. vanilla

Sift and add:
2 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Pour into a greased 9x-13-inch pan. Bake 1 hour at 350°. Serve with sauce:
1 c. sugar
½ c. butter
½ c. half & half cream
1 tsp. vanilla

Cook over low heat until mixture coats a spoon.

Sauce can be made ahead of time and reheated. Keeps nicely for a long period of time.
